DISTANCE BETWEEN

2 Tough and Crazy people get together and consider life through the Oracle of the Animated Gif. They contemplate the DISTANCE between. HE is travelling North with the PASPALUM Band and SHE is at home in The Cottage on The Hill. Separation is a strange thing. One goes away for one reason and something else happens. Lets see what it is.

The love of horses knows not it’s own depth till the hour of separation.

And ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation. –Kahlil Gibran

MILAREPA

All worldly pursuits have but one unavoidable and inevitable end, which is sorrow; acquisitions end in dispersion; buildings in destruction; meetings in separation; births in death. Knowing this, one should, from the very first, renounce acquisitions and storing-up, and building, and meeting; and, faithful to the commands of an eminent Guru, set about realizing the Truth. That alone is the best of religious observances.

“Love is born with the pleasure of looking at each other, it is fed with the necessity of seeing each other, it is concluded with the impossibility of separation.”

A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time
and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something
separated from the rest–a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This
delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection
for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by
widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole
nature in its beauty.
–   Albert Einstein

There are sacred moments in life when we experience in rational and
very direct ways that separation, the boundary between ourselves
and other people and between ourselves and Nature, is illusion.
Oneness is reality.  We can experience that stasis is illusory and
that reality is continual flux and change on very subtle and also
on gross levels of perception.
–   Charlene Spretnak

The art of the sword consists of never being concerned with victory or defeat, with strength or weakness, of not moving one step forward, nor one step backward, or the enemy not seeing me and my not seeing the enemy. Penetrating to that which is fundamental before the separation of heaven and earth where even yin and yang cannot reach, one instantly attains proficiency in the art.
– Takuan

There is a void in your soul,
      ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?
You feel the separation
      from the Beloved.
Invite Him to fill you up,
      embrace the fire.

Mevlana Rumi (1207 – 1273)

DISEASE

2 Tough and Crazy people get together and consider life through the Oracle of the Animated Gif. They contemplate DISEASE. What is this thing? Disease indeed.

You behold in me Only a travelling Physician; One of the few who have a mission To cure incurable diseases, Or those that are called so.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Every man’s disease is his personal property.
– Alonzo Clark

Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent.

Diseases of the soul are more dangerous and more numerous than those of the body.
– Cicero

God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools. ~John Muir

Experience Chan! It’s not a lot of questions.
Too many questions is the Chan disease.
The best way is just to observe the noise of the world.
The answer to your questions?
Ask your own heart.

Writer’s block is a disease for which there is no cure, only respite.  ~Laurie Wordholt

UNWELLNESS

2 Tough and Crazy people get together and consider life through the Oracle of the Animated Gif. They contemplate Illness and the isolation and withdrawal it leads to. The distance it creates between one person and another. Between one person and the world.

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.
Krishnamurti

The more severe the pain or illness, the more severe will be the necessary changes. These may involve breaking bad habits, or acquiring some new and better ones.
Peter McWilliam

Today I have grown taller from walking with the trees.
– Karle Wilson Baker

Above all do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday I walk myself into
a state of well being and walk away from every illness. I have walked
myself into my best thoughts and I know of no thought so burdensome
that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, and the more
one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill…if one keeps on
walking everything will be alright.
– Soren Kierkegaard.

To be too conscious is an illness – a real thoroughgoing illness. ~Fyodor Dostoevski

An illness of the mind is an illness of the body, and vice versa. ~Madrianne Arvore

Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of withering, of tarnishing.

Spring-water in the green creek is clear
Moonlight on Cold Mountain is white
Silent knowledge–the spirit is enlightened of itself
Contempleate the void: this world exceeds stillness.

– Han-shan
